One of my favorite pieces of publishers’ marketing swag: bookbag artwork by Ernest Shepard, the original illustrator of Winnie-the-Pooh BD (before Disney). In this droll piece Winnie, Eeyore, Tigger, Kanga, Roo, Owl and Rabbitt are pictured defending England against fierce Norman invaders in the style of the Bayeaux Tapestry. I’ve researched this, and have not found this reproduced anywhere else.
